Salem Acres Camp Update

What is Salem Acres?

Salem Acres is a summer Bible Camp and year round retreat centre. For their summer program they invite kids ages 7 to 18 to come enjoy the beauty of nature and campgrounds God has blessed them with. They plan activities for the kids to play outside, chapel sessions to dive deeper into God's word and grow in our relationship and understanding of Jesus. They want every person who comes to camp to feel the love of God and to be embraced by people who care for every camper and staff on site.   

This year there have been some new challenges that have surfaced as they have not recieved the usual amount of funding in grants to hire summer staff. 

Check out their needs below and consider volunteering!

 Volunteer Positions Needed  

Each cabin has 2 leaders and 8 campers, with the potential for up to 8 cabins (16 leaders). Each cabin leader allows us to accept more campers.

Cabin Leading:  This is where we need the most help - we have funding for 3 positions.  

Programs: Having 2 Program Helpers per week who can help set up and take down our activities and help the Director implement their planned material. 

Cooking: Our Cook teams usually consist of 4 people in the kitchen preparing meals for the camp. We will have a Head Cook and Assistant Cook in the Kitchen as part of our grant funding. We need 2 or more people (at least) to help each week with making food. Drop-in volunteers could make special desserts or meals for the campers as well.  

Media: 1 to 2 Media people per week of camp. Take pictures and videos of activities going on around camp and help make an End of the Week Video.   

Maintenance: Maintenance crew will be helping keep the facilities clean as well as working on multiple projects around camp. Having 3 helpers would be very helpful.   

Mentoring: For meal times, we encourage mentoring with our staff and checking in with them spiritually and mentally. Mentoring can be picked up by anybody already in another position and can be a rewarding experience! 3 Mentors per day (Monday to Thursday.)   

Camp Directors: We are looking for Directors for our Kids Camp 1, Kids Camp 2 and Kids Camp 3 and our Teen Week is looking for a Director and Speaker.   

Staff Care Leaders: Camp tries to find people who would be willing to give Cabin Leaders breaks during the day and watch for their campers. But also to be available to help with any problems they may be having in the cabin or outside of it. Salem is looking for 1 Male and 1 Female per week.    

Camp is not able to run properly without the help of Volunteers and people who are willing to serve with us. Thank you so much for considering being apart of the ministry of Salem Acres this Summer.
