Rod & Donna Black
Rod and Donna Black are working with Fellowship International and are living in Edmonton. Rod juggles three roles: assisting his team in Pakistan with print and audio-visual resources, coaching churches in small group development, and leadership development in South and South East Asia. They’re currently prepping for a trip to Pakistan: "Some of you remember the time you handed your car keys to your teenager, and watched them drive off solo for the first time. It is an odd mix of pride in what your child is doing, and fear over what they would do to your car! Donna and I are in a stage of ministry where we are handing the keys over again and again, to a new generation of national colleagues, and partners from around the world. They are now serving in the places we ministered in, and by the way, they're doing a wonderful job. God is working through these people to build his Kingdom, not ours, and we have the honor of watching these folks do their job. In October, we will be in Pakistan, drinking chai in the homes of a couple of dozen people dedicated to making disciples of Jesus. We get to listen to their stories, encourage them in their struggles and pray for them to carry on. At the end of the month Donna will be teaching a group of ladies how to use the Bible-storying quilt she made years ago. Rod will be helping a group of men learn from each other, support each other and make plans for future cooperation. Thank you for your prayers for safety, health, wisdom and blessing.”

Town News
Loss comes in all forms: loss of job, loss of a dream, loss of a relationship, and loss of health. How does someone navigate these losses, including when someone dies, when faced with the expectation of a perfect Hallmark-movie moment? Whether you or someone you know is going through a difficult time of grieving over the holiday season, this morning workshop can be a source of hope for you. The workshop will provide strategies to help through the holidays while understanding the truths about grief. There will be suggestions as to how to assist someone through grief and recognize that although grieving, one can live with hope and expectation. It is not about “curing” someone, it is about supporting someone with your presence. Join us for an inspiring morning at Mount Olive Church on Saturday, November 2, from 9:00 to 11:45 am (doors open at 8:30 am). Register now to ensure we have plenty of breakfast and coffee snacks for everyone. Know someone who could benefit from this session but can’t afford the registration fee? Consider being a generous benefactor. Together, we can be a beacon of hope for those navigating their journey of grief. Contact Heather Perry at 403-969-4909 or sign up online at www.giftofgrief.ca |
